This blog sends its condolences to world #1 Novak Djokovic on the death of his grandfather and "hero" Vladimir. The top tennis player in the world learned about the sad news on a practice court before his third round match at the 2012 Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters tennis tournament. The Serbian had to come from behind in a tough 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory over #16-seed Alexandr Dolgopolov. For all the mental toughness that Djokovic has displayed on and off the court in his rise to the top of the ATP tennis world, his vulnerability showed as he wept into his towel while walking off the court.
May Djokovic's faith in the Almighty carry him through this difficult challenge in his life. His fans around the world are praying for him and his family at this time. It is yet unknown if Djokovic will continue to play in the tournament. Watch the video below taken by Canal Sport of Djokovic crying after learning of the sad news while practicing.
